Meeting and Exceeding Title II Accessibility Recommendations

Many of our accessible file formats are designed to meet and exceed WCAG Guidelines to help you comply with the ADA Title II requirements. Our team creates a wide variety of file formats that can be read aloud using assistive technology.

Please see our Accessible Features and Pricing Table to easily compare our file formats and learn about their accessibility features.

For help in selecting a file format or learning more about our services, such as accessibility trainings, document audits, or consultation hours, please contact our Customer Support team at cidi-support@design.gatech.edu or (404) 894-7756.

Expert Document Accessibility for a Reasonable Price

Our DAS team is unique in that we do not rely on automation in our work, and unlike many accessibility companies, we go beyond PDF remediation to produce multiple file formats to meet the needs of individuals with different disabilities.

Our accessible files are used by a wide range of individuals with various disabilities, including those who are blind or have low vision, and those with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or ADHD. Individuals with motor impairments also benefit from having a digital version of their material, and those with cognitive impairments benefit from our alternative text description of images and graphs.

Check our Library to view orders we’ve completed in the past that would be available for instant download at a discount.

A Note on Inaccessible Source Files

Please know that there are some issues that our DAS team struggles to remediate, such as illegible text or handwritten examples, tables with merged or empty cells, images with poor resolution, and issues with poor color contrast. We may reach out to customers when we encounter these issues, as it’s not always possible for us to fix these ourselves.

Description

Tagged PDF$10.00A Tagged PDF file is WCAG compliant and meets Title II accessibility requirements. It is also the best option for individuals who prefer the layout to match the print version. These files have all the benefits and ease of a PDF, with optimized structure tags, reading order, described images, and bookmarks to enhance the reading experience.
PDF$0.66A publisher provided PDF file or a PDF that has been generated using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software that retains the same layout as the print text and includes bookmarks. An accessible PDF will be the best option for most sighted individuals. The PDF can be accessed and read aloud by text to speech software and will have bookmarks for easy navigation. Our standard PDF files do not meet Title II requirements as they do not have described images or optimized reading order.
Scanned PDF$0.12A Scanned PDF does not have accessible text and every page is a scanned image. If a sighted student needs quick access to a file, we offer this option. We recommend a Scanned PDF for sighted individuals that need material not compatible with Optical Character Recognition or text-to-speech software. For example, if a student only needs a digital version to magnify onscreen, or if they need access to a graphic novel, but do not have time for us to produce it as a DOCLD file.
DOC with Brief Alt Text$0.81Microsoft Word DOC files have accessible text, structured headings, and alt text added to images. An accessible DOC is a good option for individuals who are blind or have low vision and use a screen reader such as JAWS or NVDA to access content. The reading order is optimized and multiple levels of headings provide easy navigation.
DOC with Long Alt TextQuote RequiredAn accessible DOCLD (Microsoft Word DOC with Long Description) file is the best option for individuals who are blind or have low vision and prefer comprehensive, detailed alternative text descriptions for every image. Due to the time it takes to write comprehensive alt text, these projects are quoted so that we can agree upon an estimated completion date and price before we begin work.
EPUB$1.29EPUB files have accessible text, structured headings, and alt text added to images. An accessible EPUB is a good option for individuals who are blind or have low vision, or for individuals who use an EPUB reader such as iBooks, Dolphin EasyReader, or Thorium to access content. The reading order is optimized and multiple levels of headings provide easy navigation.
HTML$0.89HTML files have accessible text, structured headings, and alt text added to images. An accessible HTML file is a good option for individuals who are blind or have low vision and access content using a web browser, which is free and easy to customize. The reading order is optimized and multiple levels of headings provide easy navigation.
Form$30.00An accessible form with fillable form fields. The form will have an accessible heading structure, tool tips for all form fields, alt text for images, and optimized tag structure for screen readers. Forms will be tested for use with JAWS and Adobe Acrobat reader.
PowerPoint$10.00Our PowerPoint slides will have all content made accessible with proper reading order and alternative text description for images. Any animations will be described, and all tables will be made accessible. We also correct errors such as overlapping content placeholders, and repeated slide titles.
Alternative TextQuote RequiredIf you have images you need described, we have the subject matter experts who can write brief or comprehensive alt text descriptions as needed and deliver them to you in a spreadsheet with image thumbnails and their descriptions. Due to the wide variety in volume and image complexity, these projects are quoted so that we can agree upon an estimated completion date and price before we begin work.
