Captioning and Described Media

QuestionAnswer
What are the types of captioning services available?
  • C-print often called text interpreting, is a meaning-based or summarized account of the spoken message. It includes significant information delivered by the speaker, without all the extraneous nuances of spoken language, which may sometimes be difficult to understand by those with hearing loss or language-based disabilities.
  • Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) is provided when access to every single word is necessary because it is a verbatim account of everything that is spoken. CART is most effective for providing access to late-deafened adults who are accustomed to hearing all the elements of spoken language or ESL individuals.
Are there processing fees for Captioning & Described Media services? Yes, large audience/commencement sessions incur a $30 processing fee. All audio description services have a $20 processing fee per video. All captioned media videos have a $2.00 processing fee.
