ITEP Fellow Admissions are Open for 2021!

The Inclusive Tech Entrepreneurship Program (ITEP) at Georgia Tech is accepting applications for 2021. 

How To Apply

Who is eligible to apply:

Admissions for ITEP is exclusively open to students with disabilities and students from underrepresented minorities who attend universities located in metro Atlanta.

We will admit 15 students for 2021.

 

What is it:

ITEP is an integrated career development program that will provide instruction, mentorships, externships, and business coaching to students who are interested in becoming Public Interest Technology (PIT)* entrepreneurs. Focusing on challenges specifically related to the disability divide and racial equity, ITEP will support students with disabilities and from underrepresented minorities to launch their startups to address deep-rooted problems technology often creates for their communities.

Timeline:

Admission will be open between Jan 27th to Feb 24th
Notifications will be sent on the third week of March

 

More Details

ITEP will take place between April 2021 to December 2021 through virtual meetings.

 

Instruction and mentorship will be provided through April 2021 to July 2021. Instruction will facilitate discussions around long-standing challenges faced by these people focusing on topics such as inclusive design, inclusive tech policy, and equity implications of the innovations. Each student will have a mentor who is a leading practitioner of utilizing technology as a tool for addressing social problems.

 

Students will have externships at Atlanta based startups during July 2021 to gain real world experience on launching and sustaining business.

Business coaching will be provided through August 2021 to November 2021 helping the students to develop entrepreneurial skillsets and providing workshops on Business Model Canvas, customer discovery, prototyping, and minimum viable product development. 

Pitching days will take place at the end of November giving each student opportunity to pitch their business ideas to the larger audience. 

At the end of the ITEP, the top students will be given admission to the CREATE-X Startup Launch incubator and accelerator to launch their companies for 2022. As part of Launch, entrepreneurs receive $20k in legal fees, $20k in accounting fees, several startup coaches, a mentor with domain expertise, access to free interns, and a $4k stipend to cover living expenses. 

Students who successfully completes the ITEP, will be provided $300 compensation.
