CIDI is pleased to welcome Sarah Stricker as our new ICT/UX Manager. With years of experience working in higher education, digital accessibility, and online learning, Stricker will bring a deep understanding of accessibility for everyone. 

Stricker’s journey to accessibility began while working at UC Berkley, where concern from the Department of Justice required a large-scale effort to make online courses compliant with the ADA. Stricker dove in, the experience sparking her interest in digital accessibility. 

Since then, she has built an impressive career focused on advancing accessibility across an array of organizations. After working in higher ed, she joined a learning design agency, working with clients from government agencies, nonprofits, and private sector companies. Stricker found that many organizations face similar accessibility challenges. 

For Stricker, accessibility goes beyond compliance into a form of creative self-expression and meaning. 

“Accessibility is inherently creative,” says Stricker. “I've had the opportunity to design and build systems and tools, working with brilliant developers, that make a real difference.”

Stricker was already familiar with CIDI's work long before joining the organization. She had attended CIDI webinars and presentations, followed the center's work on social media, and visited a CIDI open house. Those experiences confirmed her belief that CIDI is home to some of the field's leading accessibility experts.

"I knew that I'd be joining a team with incredible breadth and depth of expertise," she said.

As ICT/UX Manager, Stricker is excited to amplify the work already being done by CIDI's ICT/UX team. She hopes to help connect CIDI's expertise with organizations and individuals who can benefit most from it, while also exploring emerging opportunities in technology.

"The opportunity is in emerging tech, like the responsible adaptation of AI," Stricker said. "I want to join the effort that CIDI is already making to meet these challenges and opportunities."

Outside of work, Stricker enjoys bowling, running, and creating 3D printable designs in Blender. She recently completed an 8K race on Atlanta's Beltline and shares her home with her partner, James, and their two cats, Algebra and Currie. She is also always happy to exchange pet photos.
